Maybe it was the advertising that killed this movie in the theatre before it even got a elegant chance. I saw this before it was released at the Sundance film festival and knew that it would be a hard one to sell to people not because it wasn’t excellent but because it didn’t fit in to a usual Hollywood classification. Determined enough, I was lawful. They made it seek like a fear movie and it is definitely not that. I’d call it a thriller with sci fi overtones. Sort of a Twilight Zone episode if you had to mark it.
Great performances by a strong cast plus an sharp status propel this over most movies that near out in the theatres these days. In some respects it’s even better than The Butterfly Finish (which had a simular region) especially because it has a strong lead where as B.E did not.

Like “The manchurian Candidate” and “The Boring Zone”, “The Jacket” deals with time-space connundrums. Adrien Brody plays Jack Starks, a man who, at the age of 27 was a Soldier who suffered a head injury in the first Gulf War known as “Desert Storm”.
When he’s patched up, he begins a poke that will ultimately land him in a psyche ward. The gallop to salvage there is burly of trouble, the shuffle to gather out is possibly deadly…but he’s not positive because though it’s the year 1993, he aloof keeps living in the year 2007!

If you like films like “The Manchurian Candidate” “The Plain Zone” or even “The Butterfly Conclude”, you will treasure this movie. Adrien Brody does estimable job in his leading role, taking on a character who througout the movie is first a confident and skilled soldier, a drifting wanderer, an accused murderer, a place case, and a psyche-ward patient. Ultimately it all adds up to the fact that this character he plays, is also very special.
Any movie where a character asks someone “What year is it” is a must perceive in my book.
This is the first American project for British filmmaker John Maybury, and I consider he did an advantageous job melding together a complicated and intricate site that flows smoothly and though dives into a puzzle now and again, never loses focus on the main theme.
Also stars Jennifer Jason Leigh, Kelly Lynch, and Kris Kristofferson. All are well cast for this movie, which has many twists and turns and leaves you going “oh…no blueprint!” a few times.
